About Enterprise for Youth
Enterprise for Youth empowers young people to prepare for and discover career opportunities. Youth cultivate their individual interests and potential through training, guidance, and paid employment experiences in supportive environments. Founded in 1969, Enterprise for Youth offers San Francisco youth ages 14 to 24 a continuum of workforce development programming. Enterprise serves over 400 youth annually through a full range of employment resources, including job-readiness training, paid internships with college credit, and support applying to and securing employment.
About the Bloomberg Arts Internship Program
The Bloomberg Arts Internship (BAI) is a full-time paid summer internship program for current rising seniors attending SF public high schools. Interns are placed at arts and cultural organizations across San Francisco, where they complete 270+ hours over the summer.
Position Overview
Enterprise for Youth seeks an enthusiastic, organized, and student-centered College Access Job Coach to support Bloomberg Arts Internship participants in their college preparation journey. This seasonal role plays a vital part in helping high-school-aged interns, including many who will be applying to college for the first time, navigate the college application process, engage in college preparation workshops, and strengthen their writing skills while building professional skills needed for long-term success.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in college access, college counseling, or youth development and is comfortable both facilitating group workshops and providing individualized guidance on college applications. The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, community-based environment is essential.
This is a seasonal position reporting to the Arts Program Director.
Approximate Hours & Wage:
The College Access Job Coach (seasonal) role begins May 15, 2026 and concludes August 7, 2026, spanning approximately 12 weeks. This position is expected to be 20–25 hours per week throughout the duration of the program. In-person days are Mondays and Fridays, 9:00 am–5:00 pm, which align with Bloomberg Arts Internship Professional Development Days and program-wide activities. Additional days may be required based on program needs.
The pay rate for the College Access Job Coach (seasonal) is $35–$39 per hour, depending on experience.
Duties and responsibilities
The College Access Job Coach holds an integral role in the success of our summer program. Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
College Workshop Coordination
Coordinate and facilitate or co-facilitate weekly college preparation workshops for the intern cohort throughout the summer, covering topics such as college research, application timelines, financial aid, essay writing.
Coordinate logistics for college-related programming, including guest speakers.
College Application Support
Provide individualized coaching and feedback to interns on all components of the college application, including personal statements, supplemental essays, program essays, and short answers.
Conduct weekly 1:1 check-ins with interns to assess progress on college applications and provide guidance tailored to each student’s needs and goals.
Review and provide constructive written and verbal feedback on drafts of college essays, ensuring clarity, authenticity, and strong storytelling.
Guide interns in building a balanced college list and understanding admission requirements, deadlines, and financial aid processes.
General Program Support & Mentorship
Build trusting relationships with interns, providing ongoing coaching, feedback, and serving as a positive role model throughout the program.
Mentor and support Program Assistants in their roles with the program and interns.
Supervise interns during program days, identify individual and group challenges, and proactively communicate concerns to the Program Director.
Participate in intern orientation and onboarding, and co-facilitate weekly professional development workshops.
Staff program events, site visits, and field trips throughout the summer.
Support day-to-day operations including preparing materials, tracking attendance, collecting paperwork, and maintaining intern records.
Attend weekly team meetings and all organization-wide events and celebrations.
Location
Candidates must be located in San Francisco and available to work in person.
Qualified candidates will:
Have previous experience in college access, college counseling, college advising, or a related youth-facing educational role.
Have demonstrated experience providing feedback on college essays, personal statements, or other writing samples.
Possess strong workshop facilitation skills and comfort leading group programming for diverse youth audiences.
Have knowledge of the college application process, including financial aid, Common App, and UC application systems.
Have experience and a passion for working with youth in diverse communities.
Possess strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Utilize culturally competent communication and relationship-building to support interns.
Thrive in fast-changing environments and be flexible with shifting priorities.
Be detail-oriented, thorough, and proactive in identifying errors or discrepancies in paperwork.
Be willing to travel throughout San Francisco.
